Benefits and possible drawbacks

There may be private or personal info on your phone screen which should be hidden and not to exposed on screen share. Along with drawbacks there are many benefits of using screen sharing feature.

We can share our personal gallery, any note, and other study material to your friends over group chat. Also, we can share a range of photos, videos, and other documents to make discussion.

Live Stream Broadcast

Facebook which already enables video view option to all group also make screen sharing feature as a live stream or broadcast your video on your phone in Messanger. It could be a mini cinema with a group of your friends able to watch together and discuss.

Of course, that won't be the only or even primary usage, and it's not Facebook's responsibility to police how, exactly, people use it. But you can imagine this will be common if the screen share option ends up getting rolled out.

But as noted, there will be other benefits. It seems like a fairly logical addition - one which might open some users up to potentially embarrassing, unintended revelations. But one which also makes sense.
